This policy describes what The Global Berean collects, why, and what choices you have. It’s written to match exactly what this site does today — not a generic template — but it is a draft prepared alongside the product itself, and should still be reviewed by a lawyer familiar with your jurisdiction before you rely on it for a live launch, particularly around regional requirements like GDPR or CCPA.

What we collect

Account information.If you sign in, we store your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name and profile image they share with us. Sign-in itself doesn’t require a password — we email you a one-time secure link instead.

Content you create. Comments you post, articles you save, reactions you leave, and authors you follow are all tied to your account so they can be shown back to you and, where relevant, to other readers.

Newsletter signups. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store the email address you provide for that purpose, separately from any reader account.

Basic usage data.We keep a simple view count per article to power our “trending” list. We do not currently run any analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts of any kind — nothing on this site profiles you across other websites.

Cookies and local storage

We use one essential, secure cookie to keep you signed in. It’s required for accounts to work and isn’t used for tracking or advertising. Separately, your light/dark theme preference is saved in your browser’s local storage, not a cookie, and never leaves your device.

How we use what we collect

• To operate your account, sign-in, and personalized features like saved articles and follows.
• To moderate comments against our community covenant before they’re shown publicly.
• To send the newsletter, if you’ve subscribed to it.
• To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their marketing.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we’ll remove your personal information, though comments already approved and shown publicly may be retained in an anonymized form to preserve the discussion around them.

Your choices

• You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time; every send will include a way to do that.
• You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data under local law.
